Man shoots ex-‘Voice’ contestant Christina Grimmie after a concert in Florida, kills himself
Christina Grimmie, a singer known for competing on The Voice, is in critical condition Friday night after she was shot after a concert in Orlando, authorities confirmed. A man armed with two guns walked up to the singer as she was signing autographs Friday night and opened fire, Orlando Police spokeswoman Wanda Ford said. Grimmie’s brother tackled him. The suspect then shot himself. Miglio called Grimmie’s brother a hero, crediting him with stopping the suspect from hurting anyone else.
The singer had performed at The Plaza Live theater Friday night, along with the band Before You Exit, when the shooting broke out.
“This is a very tragic event,” Ford said. “This should have been something that was fun and exciting, and for something like this to happen is just a tragedy.”
Grimmie finished third on Season 6 of “The Voice.” She was discovered on YouTube, where she has nearly 3 million followers.
